bram’s little cut

November 25, 2008

today i went to accompany Bintang, my old friend, my best one, for job seeking at Graha Sabja UGM where they hold this job fair. as usual. and as what we have predicted there were so many people there.

Bintang

Bintang

so the event was halt for a 30 something minutes break. and we decided to go home. have some lunch.and cover ourself a bit from the sun. Thank God! today the sun shines brightly compared to the previous day when rain was the highlight. darn. well…we were planning to go back at 1…

so, finally i got to see Bintang’s two angels again. now she has two! Bramantyo, the oldest, and the second one, the charming little larasati. Laras, that’s how they called her, was still excited about her early steps, she walked enthusiastically almost on every corner of the living room. not to mention her pixie hair cut which makes her more like a boy than the girl she is.and what makes her more adorable was the fact that she still could not speak clearly, she barely said a word…just some sequences of vocals…hehehe

sooo, her mom was having her lunch, i sat in the living room watching all the mess these two kids made- i could not imagine having two kids like them – they jump everywhere, every second… (sigh) – and then suddenly i reckoned that i was alone in the living room, Bintang was eating her lunch next to the living room. Laras was with her nanny, having her own lunch, cause previously she was crying like hell expecting her mom to breast feed her…

i had the chance to sneak peek Laras on the terrace having her lunch, i glanced at Bram who was climbing the front gate, next to the motorcycle…his nanny told him ‘do not do that, you might fall…’ considering his skinny figures i was afraid if somehow he really fall down…

so i turned my sight from these two kids, shut the curtain down, and made my walk to a big mirror on the corner of the living room, when i suddenly heard…

something fell down, and it’s gotta be big, i knew it from the sound it made, and it’s gotta be that motorcycle…the nanny screamed, Laras cried frantically, Bintang was shocked, she ran from the dining room, and cried frantically too, she knew, i bet she knew, because she’s been mom for like almost 3 years, that something bad must have happened to her boy…

and i heard Bram cried…hysterically, frantically…something bad was happening…and he cried more…

i ran to the terrace and saw him under the motorcycle and saw his head bleeding, his head was closed to the front terrace’s pillar.the blood flew out from the back of his head.

Bintang’s dad came out, but he did not look so surprised, a grand pa’s instinct? don’t know…

Bintang quickly grabbed bram on her shoulder and with a panic tone she was asking her dad what she should do, and a quick answer from grand pa ordered us to go to the nearest public health service (puskesmas)…and we went there, driving the same motorcycle that fell upon Bram’s body…

on the short trip he cried all the way…yet, i was glad that Bintang knew the right lines to say to her dear boy…and that’s the moment i realized that my best friend, my best gurl, had become a mom…

we arrived at the Puskesmas. brought Bram immediately to the treatment’s room and met the doctor. his wound, thank god it was a small one, a slight cut but quite deep?…was cleaned by the doctor, and he got 3 stitches for that…again, he cried like hell…i think that was when the needle submerged his skin…ughhh.

i noticed that Bram’s blood wet some big part of Bintang’s white shirt. that’s quite how far you should go when you become a parent…Bram’s blood of course tainted the collar of his green Persebaya shirt. he was wearing that shirt.

your safe in mommy's hands dear boy...

20 minutes later we could see his smile again. he was asking for a horse to ride. daa…grand pa came and brought him away from the Puskemas to somewhere where he would forget his pain…and we were waiting for his medicine…

God…

winter is here, Christmas is coming…

November 23, 2008

ahhhhh,

it’s been, i think, everyone most favorite time of the year… november almost ends, winter is here…and Christmas is like another 3 weeks…and advent is here!

i have always been a person who is eager for this kind of holiday season stuffs..

i remember when i was in junior high, the end of November was the right time already to stand up the tree in the living room and put many ornaments on it…turn on the lights…gee!

sometimes i prepare the advent calendar, but mostly don’t. cause they do not really use that around here. and though our tree is already full packed with ornaments, it’s just seem a load nicer to put more ornaments on the tree, until it look like piles of ornaments and you could not see the tree itself. hahaha…

some places i visited these past few days already play Christmas songs for the visitor, and it makes it burn more in my heart…

and at the moment i am listening to ‘i’ll be home for christmas’ by michael bubble…

i did some googling for making your own advent calendar, and here are some of them..

making a knitting art work as your advent calendar

drawing series of cartoon as your advent calendar?

or some home made stuff for your kids and the whole family?

or if you feel likely to do many wonderful things this season, try to visit this!

anything goes!

galang, vera, sunu, and me

my old college from which i graduated as a bachelor of English literature 3 years ago has this dance group which seems to me only focusing on Balinese dance named Sekar Jepun.

from a friend of mine i found out that Sekar Jepun means Bunga Kamboja. Bunga Kamboja is the kind of flower which is easily found in Bali. they grow everywhere and lately this flower kind be found intentionally planted as part of any modern architectural building such as cafe’s.

because in Bali it is very common to see bunga kamboja accompanying quirky beautiful buildings.

back to sekar Jepun. this year they had another performance.

this performance consist of several single dances. it’s listed in the programs. really sorry i could not provide the name of those dances.

the performance was held around beringin Soekarno area. this banyan, or beringin was said planted by the late Soekarno. that’s why it was named after him. a very unique place, and somewhat becoming a favorable place for students in my campus to carry out meetings or any art performances.

the performance actually should be started by 7 in the evening. but alas, the rain fell so big, that the show eventually started at 9.30! well, normal people would go away from the place when they knew that the show would be late for around 3 hours, but when i looked around i notice that the people were very enthusiastic to watch the show.

so the saying ‘the show must go on…’ is, again, proven to be so true. re-scheduling is impossible and canceling is not in the list of options for the committee.

so, rain or shine, the stage was soaken wet, the carpet that covered the stage was completely wet i mean. the spectators, audiences covering themselves with rain coat, umbrellas, anything to prevent themselves from becoming so wet. and those hard nosed art enthusiast were going strong despite the rain drops and the chill of night air. not to mention any future cold.

during the show many amateur photographers were caught in sight trying to catch as many moments as they could. the dancers were dancing on that wet red carpet. even when they popped the floor you could see splashes of water from the pores of the carpet. but, again, the show must go on, everyone should keep dancing, the audiences were not going home, they were waiting for the performers to come out from behind the banyan tree.

entertainment business is not for easily giving up people.

as for myself, now i know that Balinese dancing is not just kecak or legong. there are several other compositions that common people like me does not know. and for art enthusiast, enjoying dance performances of a certain culture of a certain area but outside of the area of origin itself is always a unique experience, especially for me to whom Balinese culture is really having a close connection deep within.
